Soon after, she married John Rolfe, a tobacco planter. So when John Rolfe left for England, he brought Pocahontas with him. I came along as well. After what seemed seven moons, we finally arrived in a land I had never seen before. Pocahontas said it was the land that the white men came from. The men brought us before their king and we danced. Then we were given a house outside the castle. Pocahontas had a baby boy named Thomas. Then she got very sick because the air was not good there. So they moved to a small house near the woods.
One day a man came to visit. It was John Smith, who was still alive. Pocahontas then turned her face away and did not talk to him for a long time. When she did talk to him, the first thing she said was, 'Your people lie.' Then they promised that they would not come to see each other for the rest of their life.
Pocahontas was very sick so she had to return to her homeland. On the way, she died and was buried on an island. I was sad because Pocahontas was my best friend. The ship took me to my homeland and I went back to my tribe. I was glad to be home even though I did not return with Pocahontas. The chief had died and the tribe was scattered. I found my grandmother and I lived with her. Now I am making baskets again, but life will never be the same. For the white men have come to stay.
