Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Yugoslavia. When she was twelve, she heard missionaries from India talk and knew she wanted to be one of them. When she was eighteen, she joined the Loreto Sisters and was a teacher in Calcutta. One day, she was traveling on a train and saw poor and sick people. She wanted to help them have a nice place to die instead of in the streets. She got other people to help her work for the poor. She called her group The Missionaries of Charity. Today, Mother Teresa is not around, but her helpers are all over the world helping the poor and the sick.
