Italy is a peninsula shaped country in Europe that is shaped like a boot. Italy also has two big islands called Sicily and Sardinia. There are four seas around Italy. In the northern part of Italy are the Alps. The Alps are pointed, jagged and rocky mountains covered in snow. In the middle of Italy's mainland there are mountains called the Apennines. Near the ruins of Pompeii there is a volcano called Mount Vesuvius that is still active. On the island of Sicily there is a volcano called Mount Etna. Mount Etna also erupts occasionally and it is still active too.
