Diabetes is a disease that some people can get from heredity or unbalanced diets. In both cases, the pancreas of the person with diabetes is not functioning correctly. Type 1 diabetes can happen with no warning and occurs mainly in children and teenagers. It is not from overeating. Type 2 diabetes can happen to people over forty. If they do not eat healthy foods and are obese, (overweight) they can get diabetes. The symptoms of diabetes are feeling shaky and thirsty. The pancreas does not produce insulin and glucagon to keep the blood sugar level normal. If their blood sugar is too high they may have to inject insulin into their arm or leg. People with diabetes will have to do this the rest of their lives, unless someone donates them a pancreas.
